The 2026 Snapper Derby will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Shelter Island Town Hall. Weigh-in begins at 4:00 pm. This cherished event draws in more than 200 enthusiastic children, providing them with a memorable experience featuring a commemorative t-shirt, treats like pizza, Italian ice, and popcorn, and a day of fishing with their loved ones and friends. The Snapper Derby has become a community tradition, and the children’s sheer excitement is heartwarming.

Not only does this event bring joy to the community, but it also plays a vital role in supporting those in need throughout the year. The funds raised from the Snapper Derby contribute to vital youth activities such as scholarships, educational trips, and fulfilling special youth needs. Additionally, a portion of your generous donations goes towards assisting Islanders in meeting their essential needs, including fuel, electricity, medical expenses, and other necessities.

Donations and t-shirt sponsorships are much appreciated.
