Rules:
Anglers must be 14 years or younger.
All Blue fishing must take place west of Gardiner’s Island.
Kids can fish the entire day.
Participants can keep only one fish, the rest should be released.
Be honest in the catch and release competition.
Fish in clear water.
Trophies (for 15 winners):
(1-5) Biggest snapper less than a 1 lb (16 oz)
(1-5) Biggest Bluefish
(1-5) Most caught and released

Friends and families fishing together are invited to enjoy this exciting new Shelter Island Lions Club Snapper Derby Team Competition.
Team Requirements
Each team must consist of three anglers fishing together
- One participant aged 15 or older
- One male angler aged 14 or younger
- One female angler aged 14 or younger
Weigh-In Rules
Each team member must catch a Baby Bluefish (“Snapper”) weighing 1 pound or less and bring it to the official weigh-in. The 3 fish will be weighed together, and the teams with the highest combined weight will win prizes.
This competition is designed to encourage anglers of all ages to fish together, create lasting memories, and celebrate the tradition of the Shelter Island Snapper Derby.
